The Chicago Harbor Light

$75.00

The Chicago Harbor Light was originally constructed in 1893 for the World’s Columbia’s Exposition. After which it was moved to its current location in 1919. It stands on the south end of the northern breakwater to protect the Chicago Harbor.

This was an actual maned structure until 1979 when the lighthouse became automated. It was listed as a Chicago Landmark in 2003. By 2005 the United States Coast Guard declared it “excess” and under protection from the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act from 2000 it was offered up to all applicable agencies at no charge. It was finally transferred to the City of Chicago in February of 2009.
